March 2024 Principal’s Message

Greetings Donahoe Families!

March 25th will mark the end of the 3rd nine-weeks.  What this means is that we are quickly closing the gap to the end of the school year where the last day of school is May 31st.  We now have 56 school days left, and testing for all students will begin in the middle of April.  We want our students to feel and be prepared for testing.  They need to be in the building each day.  Standards of Learning assessments, (SOLs) will have questions on it based on the pace of standards taught for each subject from August to April.  Your support is a valuable and very much needed.

We will be celebrating “Read Across America” the first week of March and that means spirit week.  Please review the March Calendar of Events at the bottom of this newsletter.  Yes we work hard, and play hard too!

Career Day is March 22nd which is a school half-day.  We are thankful for the volunteers who have signed up to share their occupation with our students.  What an amazing opportunity for students to start thinking about what they want to do with their lives once they finish school.  Also as a reminder, school will dismiss at 11:05.

The PTO  Spring Fling which is on Thursday, March 28th is quickly approaching and there is still time to help with this event.  We are only looking at support for this day from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. or help behind the scenes on another day.  The event time is from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.  If you have never volunteered for an event or if you want to volunteer again, please do so. We ask that you complete the online volunteer application as soon as possible. The link to the application is https://www.henricoschools.us/page/volunteers.  Here is the email to the PTO -    donahoepto23@gmail.com

I close by sharing that together, let's reinforce the importance of attendance and strive to ensure that every child has the opportunity to maximize their potential and thrive academically. Your partnership in this endeavor is truly appreciated and vital to our collective efforts.  Until next time.  Go Dolphins and Goodbye!
